My name is Stephen O’Farrell, and I have been involved in teaching and learning for many years. I have a strong interest in language education, economics, and cross-cultural communication, and these interests shape both my professional work and my personal life.
Outside the classroom, I enjoy food and Asian cooking, studying foreign languages, and teaching economics. I regularly listen to podcasts such as Sinica and programs featuring Chuck Klosterman, which explore culture, society, and the ways people make sense of the world. I also enjoy reading The New Yorker, especially its essays on China and Russia, which have helped deepen my understanding of global cultures and perspectives.
I believe that ethnography is an important way to understand the world beyond our own experiences. As an educator and learner, my goal is to build empathy—for different cultures and for students—by encouraging curiosity, reflection, and respect for diverse ways of thinking and learning.
